1) Difference between “Green Tree” vs ”Sustainable Selection”:
Sustainable trends/requirements have been evolving rapidly over the past years from the product itself to the product packaging and product’s end-of-life impact. At Lyreco, we want to make it easier for you to identify the products bearing a “Sustainable Selection” icon. That is why we are now transiting Lyreco “Green Tree” to Lyreco “Sustainable Selection” with wider requirements.
Lyreco “Green Tree” is focused on products with environmental contribution. While Lyreco “Sustainable selection has wider requirements focusing on the ESG standard and containing 3 mandatory criteria:
• A valid ESG certification or a 20% minimum score3 on the ESG self-questionnaire per supplier; and
• 80% minimum of the product’s primary packaging weight is recyclable; and
• 80% minimum of the product’s material is either recyclable or product is reusable.
If the above 3 mandatory criteria are met, then the products will be further assessed and assigned up to 3 of the following “Sustainable Selection” icons:
• Products focusing on environmental contribution (“Planet” selection); AND/OR,
• • Products contributing to the well-being and safety of people at work (“People at Work” selection); AND/OR,
• Products contributing to improving societal impact on local communities (“Community” selection).
Lyreco “Green Tree” methodology relies on ISO 14020: Environmental labels and declaration. While Lyreco “Sustainable Selection” methodology relies on the ISO 20400: Sustainable Procurement Guidance.
