The new legislation aims to enhance recycling efforts in England by standardising recycling practices across different regions and sectors and ensuring more consistent and frequent waste collection. These changes are intended to support the transition towards a more sustainable and circular economy.
Starting March 2025, new legislation will require businesses in England with more than 10 full-time employees to implement recycling practices for all recyclable waste streams, excluding garden waste and plastic film.
By 31st March 2027, businesses with fewer than 10 full-time equivalent employees must recycle all recyclable waste streams, except garden waste. Additionally, the collection of plastic film from all properties will begin.
