เครื่องปริ้นหรือเครื่องพิมพ์หัวเข็ม ( Dot Matrix Printer ) บางคนอาจจะไม่รู้จัก หรืออาจจะไม่เคยเห็น เครื่องพิมพ์ดอตแมทริกซ์ หรือ เครื่องพิมพ์หัวเข็ม คือเครื่องปริ้นชนิดเดียวกัน เป็นเครื่องพิมพ์ชนิดนี้ใช้หลักการสร้างจุด ลงบนกระดาษโดยการใช้หัวพิมพ์ของเครื่องพิมพ์ที่มีลักษณะเป็นหัวเข็ม
ทุกครั้งเมื่อได้สั่งการตีพิมพ์ หัวเจ็มจะยื่นลำหน้าออกมาเพื่อกระแทกผ่านผ้าหมึกหรือผ้าหมึกดอทฯ ลงบนกระดาษ จะทำให้เกิดจุดขึ้น การพิมพ์แบบนี้จะมีเสียงดัง ความคมชัดของข้อมูลขึ้นอยู่กับจำนวนจุด ถ้าจำนวนจุดยิ่งมากข้อมูลที่พิมพ์ลงบนกระดาษยิ่งคมชัด ความเร็วของเครื่องพิมพ์ชนิดนี้อยู่ระหว่าง 180 ถึง 350 ตัวอักษรต่อนาที หรือ ประมาณ 1 ถึง 3 หน้าต่อนาที ในปัจจุบัน เครื่องพิมพ์ดอทเมตริกซ์ ที่นิยมใช้กันมี 3 แบบ คือ เครื่องพิมพ์ดอทเมตริกซ์แบบ 9 เข็ม , 24 เข็ม และ 33 เข็ม เนื่องจากเครื่องพิมพ์หัวเข็มเป็นเครื่องพิมพ์ที่เฉพาะ การหาซื้อจึงจะหาได้ยาก อย่างไรก็ตามเราสามารถหาซื้อตลับผ้าหมึกเครื่องพิมพ์ดอทเมตริกซ์ได้เพียงสั่งซื้อกับ Lyreco
