Part of the sole reinforced with steel or Kevlar plates to protect the foot from punctures or stepping on the spikes or various sharp objects. Including the sole made of PU or polyurethane rubber, which is waterproof, resistant to oil, heat, chemicals, and static electricity. The material used to make the shoe affects weight and price. For example, a composite toecap or Kevlar sole is lightweight and more expensive.

People who work in places where there is a risk of injury. The law requires workers to wear personal protective equipment (PPE) for safety. As previously mentioned, one of that equipment is safety shoes. It is an important work equipment that helps reduce foot injuries if accidents occur during work such as workers in the construction industry. People who work in industrial plants, production departments, warehouses or those who work in oil or chemicals industry. The selection of safety shoes must be considering of the standard foot protection. This standard has both our own Thailand standards and international standards, namely European standard, and US standard.

Safety shoes standard

  • Thai standard TIS -Thai Industrial Standard or TIS 523-2554
  • European standard EN ISO20345: 2011 (Standard Protection for Professional Safety Footwear)
  • US Standard ASTM 2412-2413 (Standard Specification for Performance Requirements for Foot Protection)

We classify the standards of safety shoes according to the materials used and foot protection are divided into two classes.

Class I shoes made of leather and other materials. that are not natural rubber or synthetic materials, polymers

SB (Safety Basic)

Basic safety shoes can withstand an impact of 200 joules and a force of 15,000 newtons of compression, anti-slip.

SBP (SB with puncture resistance midsole)

Basic safety shoes can withstand an impact of 200 joules and a force of 15,000 newtons of compression, anti-slip with stab resistance floor.

S1 (SB with anti-static sole)

Basic safety shoes can withstand an impact of 200 joules and a force of 15,000 newtons of compression, anti-slip with anti-static sole and heel area.

S1P (S1 with puncture resistance midsole)

Basic safety shoes can withstand an impact of 200 joules and a force of 15,000 newtons of compression, anti-slip with anti-static sole and heel area, as well as puncture resistant sole.

S2 (S1 with water resistant upper)

Basic safety shoes can withstand an impact of 200 joules and a force of 15,000 newtons of compression, anti-slip with anti-static sole and heel area, plus water resistant upper.

S3 (S2 with puncture resistant midsole and deep sole grooves)

Basic safety shoes can withstand an impact of 200 joules and a force of 15,000 newtons of compression, anti-slip with anti-static sole and heel area. The upper part is water resistant, as well as the ground is puncture resistant and the outermost sole is a button type (Cleated outsole).

Class II shoes are made of natural rubber or synthetic polymer materials.  It will be a safety shoe in the form of a boot.

SB (Safety Basic)

Basic safety shoes can withstand an impact of 200 joules and a force of 15,000 newtons of compression, anti-slip.

S4 (SB with anti-static sole and outsole resistant to hydrocarbons

Basic safety shoes can withstand an impact of 200 joules and a force of 15,000 newtons of compression, anti-slip. Reinforced foot pressure absorption and resistance. Electrostatic charge and chemicals.

S5 (S4 with puncture resistance midsole and deep sole grooves)

Basic safety shoes can withstand an impact of 200 joules and a force of 15,000 newtons of compression, anti-slip. Reinforced foot pressure absorbing and resistance electrostatic charge. The upper part is water resistant. Reinforced floor type Puncture resistant and Cleated outsole.
