Selecting the suitable A4 paper for your office can be more difficult than predicted. There is much more to think of than just the color off the paper. Lyerco knows that it can confusing and provides a quick guide to define which A4 paper size you need.
The first step to make a wise purchase is to know what we talk about and to have some knowledge about the A4 paper in general. Here is a quick reminder of the technique terms used to describe paper. The unit to measure paper is called the ream. A ream of A4 paper size is 450-500 pages. Another metric is the GSM (grams per square meter) which measures the density of the A4 paper. The last criteria you should focus on is the opacity, the light that pass thorough the piece of paper, which is important when you print on both sides. The opacity is low if you can see the reverse side of the page when reading the facing one.
Lyreco offers you two main a4 paper size weight: 70GSM and 80GSM. 80 grams id the standard paper weight and will make all your printing and copying really easy. It is the perfect paper thickness. You can consider thicker paper (like 120 GSM) if you need to print business cards for example. If you own dozens of business cards, you can find the card holder you need on our website. 70GSM paper is more relevant when it comes to writing purposes. This A4 paper would be perfect to write on with our range of pen , but not for printing as it could cause some paper jam.
Now that you are aware of the correct terms and understood which aspect are to consider, you can chose which a4 paper size is the best for your printing needs. At first, if your company print heavily and daily, you should consider a 80GSM a4 paper to avoid all risk of paper jam. You do not want your a4 paper size to have a bad impact on your productivity. Then, you need to define how many reams of paper are necessary. A box of paper contains 5 to 10 reams of a4 paper. One ream of paper is 500 sheets maximum, so a box of a4 paper can be up to 5000 pages. If you are working in a multinational company, you might need 10 reams box of paper, but if you are a smaller company, like a SME or a start-up (under 20 employees) you should consider less reams. The last point to consider when you make a a4 paper purchase is your budget. Are you willing to spend a bit more for a 80 GSM paper that will cause less paper jam?
A shredder is a must if you want to destroy your a4 paper. Your company may print document illustrating some protected data and it is a good idea to use a shredder to destroy the sheets instead of just throwing them away. Lyreco offers a waste range of shredder that fil all company sizes, usage and budget.
